In the subject line of a recent email, Shipmate Frank used the word ponder.
It’s a word not often used. But when I see or hear it used, it brings to mind that great Christian hymn, “Praise To The Lord The Almighty,” written in the 1600s by Joachim Neander.
I first heard this hymn some years ago as the congregation at St. Andrews Free Church of Scotland sang it during a morning worship service.
“Ponder anew what the Almighty can do, if with His love He befriend thee,” is the line that caught my attention.
We live in a negative world and it’s easy to get caught up in the daily trauma of world events.But as Christians, we are called to “ponder anew,” think yet again, about the blessings God sends our way.
