The closing….

1017 South Kansas Ave.

Today (Dec 12) is closing day. Closing on the sale of the building that was our business home for 39 years. There were lots of memories as I carried out the remaining items, locked the door for the last time and snapped this picture of a now empty building.

There was a time when five people worked here full time. Oil-field trucks were coming and going, picking up repaired radiosj or dropping off defective ones. UPS and FEDEX were daily stops.

After getting out of the Navy way back in the mists of time (1974), Joyce and I started a small business in my hometown. We sold and serviced TVs. Later we expanded to include 2-way radios. I had been a communications technician in the Navy and had experience in that area.

The 2-way radio business transitioned into providing automation communications. We provided system design, equipment, installation and service for oil and gas companies, power generating and transportation companies, and municipal water systems over much of the Western US.

In 2013 we were acquired by E2E of St. Paul MN. They operated from this building and  business went on as usual.

It has been a great ride.

When we left Scotland and the Navy, our plan was to come back home (Oklahoma Panhandle), and farm. That had always been my dream. How a big city girl from a North Sea Port city in Scotland would adapt, I didn’t know. But she managed well, literally, taking care of both a business and a family.

But God, in His infinite wisdom, prodded and pushed us in a different direction. The way was not always easy or clear, but as I often say, “thirty-five years later we became an overnight success.”

We are believers in Divine Providence.  Looking  back, we could not be otherwise.

A heartfelt thanks to our exceptional employees who really became part of our family, the many great clients and the suppliers who believed in us and helped make all this possible.
