The White Ship sailed from France on 25 November 1120. The ship was bringing hundreds of titled, wealthy nobles back to England.The future King was one of them
There would be one survivor, a butcher named Berold. Berold was neither titled or wealthy. He had simply sold meat to these titled, wealthy people and they hadn’t paid him. He was following them around trying to collect what they owed hiim.
There is no record of him ever getting paid. But I bet he had a good story at the pub.
