TR6

Somewhere in the North of England
At Shipdam Airdrome

Someone on X asked what year it wss….

It was a 1970 model.

When still in high school, a young man from a neighboring town had a Triumph TR250 and I really liked its style.

Some years later, I was stationed with the US Navy at Remote Site H2, a classified installation on the Langanes Peninsula in Iceland. When I saw a TR6 in a publication, I decided to purchase one by mail and have it shipped to my next duty station.

It was interesting when I finally received orders to discover I would be going to the Naval Security Group Detachment at RAF Edzell in Scotland and I would be able to pick up my new car at the factory.

Some months later, I found myself driving my new TR6 out of the factory in Coventry. My excitement in having a new British sports car was tempered somewhat by the fact I had not driven at all for a year, and now I was going to be driving my brand new car on the ‘wrong’ side of the road!  And I had never seen a traffic circle!

A shipmate from Iceland accompanied me and we drove toward London and then to my Dad’s WW2 airbase at Shipdam Airdrome. Then on to Edzell.

Lots of memories are associated with that car. My first date with a young Scottish lass who has been my wife these past 56 years, was to His Majesty’s Theater in Aberdeen to see the London cast of HAIR.

Memories; Thanks for the memories.

This is the short version.  🫠
